The TDSP (WIRES COMPANY) is responsible for transmitting and distributing the electricity to your business or your home through the poles and wires that you see every day. They are responsible for all of the power lines to make sure that they are all working properly and are maintained safely for the general public. Every Local Wires Company is regulated by the PUC and watched very carefully. Your Local Wires is who you must contact with to have your electricity cut back on if there is an outage in your area. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO YOUR PROVIDER IS. ALL OF YOUR ELECTRICITY GOES THROUGH YOUR LOCAL WIRES COMPANY. THEY ARE THE COMPANY THAT WILL HAVE YOUR ELECTRICITY CUT BACK ON IN CASE OF AN OUTAGE.
In Texas, all of the monopolies have been forced to form new companies that are responsible for transmission repairs, and meter readings. These charges are also known on many other bills as DEMAND CHARGES OR DELIVERY CHARGES. These charges do not come from the suppliers.
